In 2014, Palais Galliera hosted the first Vogue Paris Foundation gala, held to support and promote the creation of contemporary fashion.
The most prestigious French, Italian, English and American houses of fashion were generous participants: Azzedine Alaïa, Balenciaga, Balmain, Burberry, Carven, Céline, Chanel, Chloé, Dior, Fendi, Giorgio Armani, Givenchy, Gucci, Hermès, Jean Paul Gaultier, Jil Sander, Lanvin, Louis Vuitton, Miu Miu, Pucci, Ralph Lauren, Prada, Schiaparelli, Swarovski, Valentino, Versace and Saint Laurent. Photographers Inez and Vinoodh, Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, David Sims, Mario Sorrenti and Mario Testino also offered Palais Galliera original prints of works that appeared in Vogue Paris.
Thanks to the generosity and mobilization of the houses of fashion, benefactor designers and photographers and donors, this first edition of the Vogue Paris Foundation Gala raised nearly 450,000 euros in donations for the Museum of Fashion of the City of Paris. In addition, this event contributed to enriching museum collections with 53 fashion items and accessories, 19 photographs and four illustrations by David Downton and Antonio Lopes.
