The Palais Galliera welcomed the inaugural dinner of the Vogue Paris Foundation Gala, to support and to promote the creation of contemporary fashion.

Last February, Condé Nast France announced the creation of the Vogue Paris Foundation to support and promote contemporary fashion design.

One of the fund’s main objectives is to help the Palais Galliera, the City of Paris Fashion Museum, to acquire rare and invaluable pieces by today’s couture houses, fashion designers and photographers, in order to build on its contemporary collections and further enhance future public exhibitions. As Olivier Saillard, Director of the Palais Galliera, explains, “Identifying significant creations from every era is of primary importance. Furthermore, conserving them for future generations of designers and couturiers, for visitors keen to expand their knowledge and for each creator is a duty.”

Vogue Paris has, for nearly a century, documented the creativity of every age, embodied it, sublimated it and immortalised it in legendary images. This initiative marks the beginning of a new chapter for Vogue Paris in fulfilling this vocation, “so that today’s fashion becomes tomorrow’s heritage, and so that the Palais Galliera becomes the guardian of a history of fashion that we are writing day by day with true passion,” explains Emmanuelle Alt, editor-in-chief.

The Vogue Paris Foundation’s inaugural dinner, given in aid of the Museum’s contemporary collections, to raise additional funds was held on 9th July in the Palais Galliera gardens. The most prestigious French, Italian, British and American fashion houses generously took part: Azzedine Alaïa, Balenciaga, Balmain, Burberry, Carven, Céline, Chanel, Chloé, Dior, Fendi Giorgio Armani, Givenchy, Gucci, Hermès, Jean Paul Gaultier, Jil Sander, Lanvin, Louis Vuitton, Miu Miu, Pucci, Ralph Lauren, Prada, Schiaparelli, Swarovski, Valentino, Versace, Saint Laurent. Photographers Inez & Vinoodh, Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott, David Sims, Mario Sorrenti and Mario Testino also donated original prints of some of their works published in Vogue Paris.A number of prestigious guests from the worlds of fashion, music and film showed their support for the initiative with their attendance, including: Olivier Rousteing for Balmain, Alexander Wang for Balenciaga, Alber Elbaz for Lanvin, Frida Giannini for Gucci, Anthony Vaccarello for Versace, Véronique Nichanian for Hermès, Clare Waight Keller for Chloé, Bouchra Jarrar, Azzedine Alaïa, Victoire de Castellane, Pierre Hardy, Adèle Exarchopoulos, Anja Rubik, Audrey Tautou, Charlotte Casiraghi, Emma Watson, Guillaume Canet Emmanuelle Seigner, Inez & Vinoodh, Mario Testino , Karlie Kloss, Natasha Poly, Clémence Poésy, Kristin Scott Thomas, Louise Bourgouin, Mélanie Thierry, Gaspard Ulliel, Cecile Cassel, Conchita Wurst, La Femme, Raphaël....

Thanks to the generosity and commitment of the fashion houses, designers and photographers, benefactors and donors, the Vogue Paris Foundation’s initiative raised €450,000 in donations for the City of Paris Fashion Museum, which will enable it to expand its collection with some 50 fashion pieces and accessories, and 20 photographs and illustrations.

The Vogue Paris Foundation’s dinner received the support of Florence Doré, Marianne Guedin, Jaulin, Groupe Novelty, Clair Obscur, OBO, Options, Perrier-Joüet, Hervé Pierre, Potel et Chabot, Saint-Louis and VO Concept.
