Jean Després
One of the most innovative artists of the 1920s and 1930s in the fields of jewellery and precious metals, Jean Després (1889–1980) was notably influenced by his experience as an aircraft engine designer during the First world war. He worked mainly with silver – very much in fashion in the 1930s – but also with semi-precious stones like onyx, coral, turquoise, lapis lazuli and chalcedony.
