'My tour had to keep an air of distinction, and my propaganda depended on the good manners and deportment of these young ladies . . . All the mannequins wore the same costume.' Paul Poiret, King of Fashion: The Autobiography of Paul Poiret (London: V & A Publishing, 2009).
This album is the only surviving record of Poiret's 1925 trip to Copenhagen, where he was a guest at the fashion week organised by the famous women's magazine Vore Damer (Our Ladies). He was accompanied by a number of his models, recognisable here by their identical ensembles. The photos in the album show him on official business – fashion parades, talks, etc. – as well as visiting the city and its museum.
