The Palais Galliera and the New School Parsons Paris, a famous fashion school, have been collaborating for several years now.
Their latest project Objects in Trouble was carried out in the second semester of 2021 as part of the MA Fashion Studies programme. The students investigated four objects from the Palais Galliera's collection that have a problematic history in relation to issues of racism, colonialism or elitism due to the history of their creators or owners or simply by the context in which they were created.
In close collaboration with the museum team and under the guidance of Laurent Cotta, head of the graphic arts department, the students established non-conforming interpretations of these objects in the form of four performances. Their investigations resulted in rigorous and inspiring revelations about the nuanced histories of the objects in the Palais Galliera collection.
