A new "Vie Parisienne", directed by Christian Lacroix who also designed the costumes and sets, is to be discovered at the Théâtre des Champs Elysées, from 21 December 2021 to 9 January 2022. This dazzling show, where song, dance and laughter mingle, will bring to life a lively and cosmopolitan Paris.
Offenbach was at the height of his fame when he wrote this succulent and entertaining mirror of Parisian good society. With a dizzying libretto by the duo Meilhac and Halévy, he composed a delightful ode to the festive pleasures of his time. The Palazzetto Bru-Zane, in association with the Théâtre des Champs Elysées, invites you to discover the original version, as imagined by its author in 1866.
Recently unearthed, the complete orchestral material of the Palais-Royal orchestra contains the music created on the evening of the premiere, as well as precious performance indications added while the composer was at work. Two new acts will thus bring to light some totally unknown pieces, while the pre-censorship libretto and forgotten variants will offer a different view of some of the most famous arias. It is thus a "Vie Parisienne" that has never been performed before, but which retains the charm that has made its reputation, which will be presented in sixteen exceptional performances. In alternation, a fine team of French singers should set Offenbach's masterpiece alight, enlivened here by the colours and elegance of Christian Lacroix.
As a partner of the Théâtre des Champs Elysées, the Palais Galliera offers you a special rate for this show (on presentation of a full-price ticket to the Palais Galliera and according to the conditions detailed below).
