In 1990 the City of Paris acquired a remarkable collection of buckles from Maurice Derumaux. Between 1975 and 1985 this connoisseur and historian of costume had built up a collection of 350 buckles: dating from the 17th to the 19th century they retrace the evolving styles of a sometimes neglected accessory used for belts, shoes, hats and garters.
