Balenciaga
Originally handmade, the weaving of Chantilly lace became mechanized in the mid-19th century. Despite some examples of white colour, black dominates this material, playing all the better with the effects of transparency.
Alluding to Spanish culture, black lace holds a prominent place in Cristobal Balenciaga's work, enhanced by the brilliance of pink with a silk satin belt.
