Burberry by Riccardo Tisci
In 2018, Burberry appointed Riccardo Tisci as artistic director of its collections.
The first silhouette for its first ready-to-wear fashion show, for spring-summer 2019, Tisci scrupulously transposes the silhouette and cut that had made his success at Givenchy. The puck, whose mastic colour is reminiscent of the trench coat, Burberry's undisputed signature, is underlined by a wide burgundy belt giving it the martial allure dear to the designer.
In collaboration with the British graphic designer Peter Saville (author of numerous record sleeves for New Order, Joy Division, Pulp...), Riccardo Tisci imposed a new monogram, a semi of interlaced "T" and "B" (the number of the founder Thomas Burberry), which is printed on the blouse and bun cover. This is the first time in twenty years that the house of Burberry, famous for its beige, black and red tartan, has changed its visual codes in this way.
