This muff belonged to Mathilde-Létizia Wilhelmine Bonaparte (1820–1904), niece of Napoleon Bonaparte. Princess Mathilde was an iconic Second Empire figure, who had a famous literary salon in Paris.
The inlaying of the peacock and monal feathers is absolutely remarkable.
