The book presents around ten themes linked to sport and fashion in Paris, evoked through archive documents, photographs and pictorial works, and set against a selection of key pieces from the collections of the Palais Galliera.

Each sporting ‘activity’ is approached from a heritage and historical angle, placing the practice of sport in Paris in context. The exhibition will also highlight places linked to the sportswear trade, department stores, equipment manufacturers and fashion designers who have worked in this field - such as Jean Patou, who opened Le Coin du Sport in his Paris boutique - and will take visitors on a journey through time and space to understand how Parisians have dressed for sport since the 18th century!
