Working out of 7 Rue Saint-Florentin since 1913, Jean Patou, a champion of sporty elegance and modernity, was a major haute couture figure in the 1920s. His comfortable jersey sportswear ensembles, golf and tennis attire and swimsuits did much to establish the reputation of his boutique, Le Coin des Sports. A notable feature of this jacket is the cut and the skilled criss-crossing of the black ribbon on the collar, wrists and waist. This model appeared in the magazine Femina in June 1922.
