"À l'Unisson" Contemporary dance show

Following on from a first series of performances at the Paris Olympia last July and as part of Paris Musées' cultural events for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Palais Galliera is delighted to host the choreographic creation "À l'Unisson" (In Unison) for its evening event on Thursday 12 September. After visiting the "Fashion on the Move #2" collections exhibition, the public is invited to discover this contemporary dance show where diversities come together through art and sport.

About "À l'Unisson"

"À l'Unisson", created by the Paralympic athlete Arnaud Assoumani and the choreographer Mourad Bouayad, was performed for the first time during the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games' Cultural Olympiad, where six shows took place at the Paris Olympia, and has been acclaimed as a key highpoint of the Olympiad.

This contemporary choreography showcases Olympic and Paralympic athletes, professional and amateur dancers, and public figures in a performance that questions relationships with our bodies and with differences.

On stage, the performers imagine a tailored version of Mourad Bouayad's "Les Oiseaux" (The Birds) where everyone creates their own choreographic sentence, then has the choice to repeat it over and over or to illustrate someone else's. The performers interact with each other, taking turns to play the role of corypheus then the chorus, where everyone is free to copy or express the other's choreographic identity. The architecture is forever recomposed during the performance. The bodies of everyone on stage are engaged wholeheartedly whatever their disability or level of dance.

Music: A l’Unisson – Adam Crystal, an original composition

Casting: An equal number of professional dancers, Olympic athletes, Paralympic athletes and amateurs (gender and age balance)

About the "Fashion on the Move #2" collections exhibition

With the museum's collections centre staged, this chronological journey, featuring around 300 items, presents a history of fashion from the 18th century to the present day, while developing a transversal theme on the body in movement.

With Paris hosting the Olympic and Paralympic Games in the summer of 2024, the museum explores the role of clothing in physical and sports activities, its relationship with the body and movement, as well as the sociological factors reflected in its development.
