Très Parisien

1920 to 1934

"Très Parisien" was one of the few fashion magazines illustrated with stencil engravings. This magazine, published from 1920 onwards, was run by G.-P. aka Germaine Joumard who signed most of the magazine's illustrations with the pen name "Joujou". The 18 plates in each issue highlighted creations from leading couturiers such as Beer, Drecoll, Jenny, Lanvin, Lelong, Lucile, Madeleine et Madeleine, Martial et Armand, Molyneux, Patou, Philippe et Gaston, Poiret, etc. They were drawn and coloured without any backdrop and were generally printed on lightweight bubble paper. Many of the texts were signed by Fany Grèges, a well-known high-end fashion press columnist. "Très Parisien" defined itself as "le journal de la mode, du chic, de l’élégance" (the journal of fashion, style and elegance). In 1932, it acquired "Des idées nouvelles de la mode", which has also been publishing coloured plate collections since 1922. Germaine Joumard inaugurated a new formula in 1935 where plates alternated with illustrations and printed photos. The magazine disappeared after issue number 4 in summer 1936. The series below comprises over 20 issues featuring 1 to 4 leaves or 1 to 8 pages and non-text plates illustrated with stencil engravings. 10 issues were restored in 2010 with covers and illustrated plates repaired on bubble paper and affixed to cardboard.
