Egidio Scaioni
Italian photographer Egidio Scaioni set up shop in Paris in the 1920s. The Palais Galliera is home to over 400 of his images, whose modernist style plays with geometrical settings and sophisticated lighting.
This collage, a split reversal of the image, was published in L’Officiel de la Couture et de la Mode, no. 126, 1932, page 42 and offers a comprehensive view of the Maggy Rouff ensemble, with and without the coat.
The museum also has 46 photos of Ann-Emily Lacey (1907–2000), who modelled for Rouff in the 1930s. These photos were ordered by the fashion house from the top studios of the time – Scaioni, Dorvyne, d’Ora – whose mises en scène are further enhanced by the elegance of a model embodying the overall visual harmony of Rouff's collection.
