In 2019, the Vogue Paris Foundation will be held for the first time outside of the Palais Galliera. At a time when the Musée de la Mode de la Ville de Paris is entering a period of historic work to present the first permanent fashion galleries in France in 2021, the gala is being held at the Trianon de Paris.
This sixth edition in favour of contemporary creation contributes to the enrichment of the Palais Galliera's collections with more than sixty pieces.
Almost ten years after the death of Alexander McQueen, the dinner pays special tribute to this major creator. Relatively discreet in the collections of fashion museums in France, his work is now embodied by the acquisition of five of his most famous fashion shows, from "Irere" (spring-summer 2003) to his latest completed collection, "Plato's Atlantis" (spring-summer 2010).
Major figures of contemporary fashion, from Comme des Garçons to Martin Margiela to Junya Watanabe, make up this selection alongside two singular pieces imagined by Gabrielle Chanel at the end of her career. Among the great names in men's fashion, silhouettes by Rick Owens and Walter Van Beirendonck illustrate the unprecedented creative revival of this discipline.
The Palais Galliera sincerely thanks Vogue Paris and Emmanuelle Alt for their trust, as well as all the houses that faithfully support the Palais Galliera through their patronage or generous donations.
